Digicel Barbados offering voluntary separation package to staff
(Barbados Nation) – After cutting about 10 percent of its staff in Jamaica through a voluntary separation package in 2009, Digicel is expanding its offer to workers in Barbados and other parts of the Caribbean.

In confirming the move yesterday, Barry O’Brien, chief executive officer of Digicel Barbados and the Organization of Eastern Caribbean States South, described the process as “completely voluntary”.
However, he told reporters: “The company reserves the right to refuse any application and we really don’t expect many staff to take up the offer in this environment.”
Pressed to reveal how many workers were being targeted, the Digicel Barbados boss neither gave a figure nor the total number of workers employed by the telecommunications company here.
