Antigua & Barbuda explores business process outsourcing potential
The Antigua & Barbuda Investment Authority (ABIA) recently hosted Kirk Laughlin, founder/editorial director of Nearshore Americas, who visited the island-nation last week to gain insight on the business process outsourcing potential of the country.
While in the island-nation, Laughlin met with government officials including Minister of Telecommunications Dr Edmond Mansoor.
“We are in constant pursuit to find out what markets in Latin America and the Caribbean provide for our space. Particularly we are looking at the availability of talent, creativity, and human capital. We want to get a sense of what the country is like and what it’s like to do business here,” Laughlin said.
Laughlin highlighted the country’s telecommunications infrastructure and internet penetration as major attractions for the business process outsourcing market.
“I think what I am seeing, which is promising, is the understanding of ICT and getting the internet technology in the hands of people of all ages,” he noted.
Antigua & Barbuda, along with Barbados are considered the ICT capital of the Caribbean with internet penetration of more than ninety percent and cutting edge technology such as 4G LTE widely available.
