White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre elevated to Senior Advisor role
ABC News has reported that White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre has been promoted to senior advisor to the president.
“Karine has been a trusted advisor to the President and all of us here at the White House from the very beginning. Her guidance will be crucial in accomplishing as much as we can for the American people in the coming months,” said Jeff Zients, the President’s chief of staff.
Jean-Pierre made history in 2022 when she was appointed as the first Black woman and the first openly gay person to serve as White House Press Secretary.
“Jill and I have known Karine for a long time and have always respected her. She will be a powerful voice for me and this Administration,” President Biden said in a statement when he announced her as press secretary in 2022.
Jean-Pierre’s promotion is effective immediately, and she will continue to fulfill her press secretary responsibilities through the end of Biden’s term. She is the first press secretary in decades to simultaneously hold the title of senior advisor.
