University of the West Indies maintains its standing in the World University Rankings
The University of the West Indies (The UWI) has ranked among the top 2,092 institutions in the latest Times Higher Education World University Rankings, marking its sixth consecutive year of inclusion. This list represents a select group from the estimated 32,000 universities worldwide.
The rankings assess universities across five performance areas: teaching, research, knowledge transfer, and international outlook. Since joining in 2018, The UWI has consistently placed in the top 5 percent globally.
Vice-Chancellor Professor Hilary Beckles emphasized that the university’s continued presence reflects its commitment to academic excellence. Pro Vice-Chancellor for Academic-Industry Partnerships, Professor Justin Robinson, highlighted strong scores in “Teaching” and “International Outlook” indicators.
Despite challenges posed by changes in ranking criteria, The UWI remains focused on enhancing quality standards to meet evolving demands. Vice-Chancellor Beckles noted that innovation is crucial as universities face increased competition and funding constraints.
