Trinidad & Tobago rattled by 3.4 magnitude earthquake

An earthquake with a magnitude of 3.4 rattled Trinidad & Tobago and some neighboring islands on Monday, the Seismic Unit of the University of the West Indies (UWI) has reported.

It said the earthquake, which happened at 1.26 p.m. (12.26 p.m. EST) occurred north-west of Trinidad and the seismic Unit said “this event may have been felt in nearby islands.”

It said that the earthquake was located at 11.34°N 61.98°W and had a depth of 65 kilometers (40 miles).

Last week, Trinidad & Tobago and Barbados were shaken by an earthquake with a magnitude of 3.6. In both cases there were no reports of death or injury. -(CMC)
