Ahmed Tejan Kabbah, the former president of Sierra Leone who oversaw the end of the country’s brutal civil war, has died.
Kabbah died at home in Freetown, the capital, on Thursday. He was 82 years old.
He served 2 terms as president, ending in 2007. Kabbah is largely credited with helping bringing to an end in 2002 a civil war that killed tens of thousands in the west African country.
