Portia Simpson-Miller to be sworn in Thursday as Prime Minister of Jamaica
Portia Simpson-Miller will be sworn in as prime minister of Jamaica on Thursday afternoon, a week to the day that her People’s National Party (PNP) crushed the Jamaica Labor Party (JLP) in a general election that returned her to the office of chief executive for a second time.
“The swearing-in ceremony will be on Thursday at 4:00 pm at King’s House,” Delano Franklyn, the PNP’s spokesman during the election campaign, told reporters yesterday.
Before Simpson Miller takes the oath of office, Governor General Sir Patrick Allen is expected to be notified of the final election results by the Electoral Office of Jamaica.
