Malawi President names Michael Usi as new Vice President

Malawian President Lazarus Chakwera has named Michael Usi as the new vice president, following the tragic death of Saulos Chilima in a plane crash on June 10.

The announcement was made on Thursday by Secretary to the President and Cabinet, Colleen Zamba, who also noted that Usi’s swearing-in ceremony is scheduled for Friday.

Prior to this appointment, Michael Usi served as the Minister of Natural Resources and Climate Change.
