LIAT 2020 set to launch flights to 11 new regional destinations
The newly rebranded regional airline, LIAT 2020 (Leeward Islands Air Transport), is set to launch flights to 11 new destinations in the near future.
CEO Hafsaf Abdulsalam stated that this expansion aims to enhance travel options across the Caribbean, serving both business and leisure passengers.
After operating primarily in Antigua & Barbuda, the airline will begin flying to five additional islands: St. Lucia, Barbados, Grenada, Dominica, and St. Kitts & Nevis.
“We plan to expand into more southern Caribbean territories, adding 11 new destinations in September,” Abdulsalam said. The expansion will also include Guyana and Trinidad & Tobago.
Looking ahead, Abdulsalam revealed that the airline plans to introduce the next-generation E2 195 narrow-body aircraft by the end of its first year. This 128-seat aircraft will enable further expansion, including potential routes to Panama, and – pending approval from the Eastern Caribbean Civil Aviation Authority (ECCA)- to Miami, Puerto Rico, and the British Virgin Islands.
Abdulsalam also stressed that LIAT 2020 aims to offer competitive and affordable fares while maintaining sustainability and profitability. The airline is working to secure exemptions from various governments to help lower costs for travelers.
