A fire in the electrical room of the Sangster International Airport in Jamaica’s northern city of Montego Bay, Thursday afternoon caused an evacuation of passengers and a delay in flights.
There were no injuries reported.
Fire investigators say they are investigating the cause of the blaze, which was extinguished quickly. Some departing flights were briefly delayed, but the airport remained open and incoming flights were not affected.
It is the second fire at the Montego Bay airport this year. In May, a bigger blaze destroyed parts of an airport building housing the crew room. No one was injured in that fire either.
