Caribbean Airlines set to start scheduled flights to destinations in Africa
Caribbean Airlines is planning to start scheduled flights to destinations in Africa from its base in Trinidad & Tobago.
Caribbean Airlines currently operates Boeing 737-800 and Atr 72 aircraft but is, in 2019, planning to take delivery of brand new Boeing 737Max-8 aircraft. 737 Max planes will fly the new routes.
Caribbean Airlines previously operated transatlantic services from the Caribbean, but they dropped that service in 2016 due to financial losses.
The carrier has also been considering new destinations in the Caribbean. The airline has launched a new base in Jamaica, which will allow for easy connection across the Caribbean. New destinations will likely be in Cuba, Haiti, and the Dominican Republic, among others.
At present, Caribbean Airlines is going through a period of change. It is looking to build new alliances and launch codeshares with airlines in the region.
Caribbean Airlines is a premium carrier. Flights feature Business Class and Economy Class. Business Class passengers can pre-order meals for their flight.
The Trinidad & Tobago-based carrier previously operated Dash 8-300 planes, which have been replaced by newer, more efficient Aerospatiale ATR Aircrafts. The ATR 72s cannot fly transatlantic.
