Bahamas elections update: Hubert Ingraham concedes defeat, Perry Christie is new Prime Minister

Outgoing prime minister and Free National Movement (FNM) leader, Hubert Ingraham has conceded defeat and announced that he will not lead the party in opposition and would resign his seat in parliament.

Speaking at the FNM party headquarters, Ingraham congratulated prime minister-elect and Progressive Liberal Party (PLP) leader Perry Christie.

Ingraham’s seat will now be contested for in a bye-election and the FNM will have to elect a new leader.
