Yohan Blake almost breaks Usain Bolt’s 200m record

Yohan Blake ran the second-fastest 200m of all time at the Brussels Diamond League meeting on Friday, upstaging compatriot Usain Bolt, who earlier set the quickest 100m of the season.

Blake, who won the world 100m title in Daegu last month after Bolt was disqualified from the final for false-starting, ran 19.26sec, just 0.07sec behind the world record Bolt set in Berlin in 2009.

Blake was given a congratulatory hug after the race by Bolt, who appears now to have a serious rival over 200m as well as 100m for the Olympic Games in London. “That’s amazing for me. I’m shocked he did so well,” Bolt said.
