Uganda implements 4G network technology
Uganda joins Angola in implementing 4G technology which will provide subscribers and businesses faster Internet access and data speeds.

The country’s largest telecommunications provider MTN Uganda, revealed that it had commenced with the installation of the Long Term Evolution (LTE) infrastructure which provides the framework for wireless communication of high-speed data for mobile phones and data terminals, popularly known as 4G technology, and had invested over US$70 million to finance the network upgrade.
“LTE becomes the new standard determining the level of technology development and offering substantially faster data speed than other technologies,” said Mazen Mroue, the MTN Uganda Chief Executive Officer said.
The launch of 4G will make it the first operator to deploy the technology in Uganda and by extension East Africa.
