Team Ghana are strong contenders for Africa Cup of Nations

The former captain of Ghana, Stephen Appiah, has expressed confidence that the Black Stars will win the 2012 African Cup of Nations.

Ghana has not won the championships since 1982. Ghana will need to beat North Sudan in the Group 1 decider in October in order to qualify for the 2010 championships. Both countries are at the top of group 1, however, Ghana has a superior goal difference.

Appiah indicated that winning the championship would not be an easy task, but strongly believes that the current crop of young players will send the west African nation back to its glory days.
