Stephen Keshi – Nigeria’s new coach

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) have appointed Stephen Keshi (a former Nigeria team captain) coach of the Nigeria National Soccer team – the Super Eagles.

Keshi replaces Samson Siasia who was fired Friday, due to his failure to earn Nigeria a spot in next year’s Africa Cup of Nations.

Keshi’s coaching experience includes coaching both the Togo and Mali national soccer teams. Keshi has achieved success in the past, when he led Togo to the 2006 World Cup in Germany. He has been mandated to qualify for the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations, and reach the quarterfinal stage of the 2014 World Cup in Brazil.
