Serena Williams named womens ITF World Champion

Serena Williams has been named womens ITF (International Tennis Federation) World Champion for a third time.

The 31-year-old Williams was unstoppable in the second half of 2012, winning Wimbledon, singles and doubles gold at the Olympics and the U.S. Open.

“It means a lot to be named ITF World Champion for the third time. It has been such an amazing experience this year to win the Olympics and two Grand Slam tournaments, and I look forward to having an awesome 2013,” said Williams – a 15-times major winner.

Novak Djokovic took the mens prize.
