Kenya slams IAAF decision. Was Cheruiyot robbed?
Kenyan Athlete: Vivian Cheruiyot
Athletics Kenya (AK) officials are disappointed and showed their empathy to double world 5,000 and 10,000m champion Vivian Cheruiyot after she failed to secure the 2011 International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF) Female Athlete of the Year award.
AK chairman Isaiah Kiplagat said, Cheruiyot had done everything to deserve the award and that they, too, were shocked when the IAAF announced Australian Sally Pearson as the winner.
“Immediately the announcement was made we expressed our disappointment and we were told that Cheruiyot had lost in the online voting by 30 votes to eventual winner Sally Pearson,” he said.
