Howard University launches Sirius XM radio channel to showcase HBCU experience

Howard University has launched a new radio station that will showcase the Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) in the United States.

HBCU Sirius XM, located on channel 142, kicked off at 12:00 EST on Thursday November 14.

According to sources at the university, the station is a platform for sharing the HBCU experience.

Powered by Howard University, HBCU Sirius XM will also feature content from Hampton University in Hampton, Virginia.; American Baptist College in Nashville, Tennesse.; Jackson State University in Jackson, Mississippi.; Virginia State Univeristy in Petersburg, Virginia.; Prairie View A&M University in Prairie View, Texas and Tennessee State University in Nashville, Tennessee.

This new station becomes Howard University’s second channel on the satellite radio system. The first Sirius XM satellite radio channel launched by the university (H.U.R. Voices) kicked off in 2011.

There are 106 historically black colleges and universities in the United States.
