All Africa Games update: Namibia’s fifth medal

Namibia claimed her second medal at the 10th edition of the All Africa Games, underway in Maputo, Mozambique.

Tjipekapora Herunga (pictured), won a bronze medal when she finished 3rd in the women’s 400 meter final on Tuesday. She ran an astonishing time of 51.84 seconds smashing the previous Namibian record of 52.36 seconds in the process, while she also beat the 2012 London Olympic Games qualifying time of 52.00 seconds.

Namibia’s medal haul shot up to five, after para-athlete Ananias Shikongo won two medals and Martin Aloysius one.

Namibia has a total haul of one gold, one silver and three bronze medals so far.
