Rain interrupts ODI match between the West Indies and Pakistan

Sunday, July 14, 2013

Rain has interrupted play in the first one day international (ODI) at the Guyana National Stadium on Sunday with Pakistan at 23 for four off 9.1 overs after being put in to bat by the West Indies.

West Indies captain Dwayne Bravo won the toss and put Pakistan in to bat in the first ODI. Bravo, who missed the West Indies final match of the tri nation series last week in Trinidad & Tobago because of suspension, returned to lead a West Indies side seeking its first home ODI series triumph against Pakistan since 1988.

In their first action since losing all three group matches at the Champions Trophy in England last month, the Pakistani side welcome back all-rounder Shahid Afridi, whose wrist-spinners are expected to complement frontline slow bowler Saeed Ajmal and a seam attack comprising two left-armers, including the giant Mohammad Irfan.

Here are the line ups of both teams:

West Indies – Dwayne Bravo (captain), Chris Gayle, Johnson Charles, Darren Bravo, Lendl Simmons, Marlon Samuels, Kieran Pollard, Darren Sammy, Jason Holder, Sunil Narine, Kemar Roach.

Pakistan – Misbah-ul-Haq (captain), Nasir Jamshed, Ahmed Shehzad, Mohammad Hafeez, Asad Shafiq, Umar Akmal, Shahid Afridi, Wahab Riaz, Asad Ali, Saeed Ajmal, Mohammad Irfan.
