Trinidad and Tobago: Former PM Patrick Manning airlifted to the US, possibility of wife taking over his seat

Former Trinidad and Tobago prime minister Patrick Manning was airlifted to the Walter Reed Memorial Hospital in the United States for further treatment, following the stroke that has left him partly paralysed two weeks and is still unable to speak clearly or move without assistance.

There is growing support for Mrs Manning to take over his seat and continue representing the people of the riding that he has led since 1971. She first entered the political arena in 2001, and served as education minister, and later as minister of local government.
