St Kitts & Nevis: Former Douglas allies form new party – The People’s Labor Party

Immediate former deputy prime minister Sam Condor, and former cabinet minister Timothy Harris have officially broken ranks with Prime Minister Denzil Douglas and have formed a new party – the People’s Labor Party (PLP).

According to reports coming from the twin-island nation, the new party will host its first political meeting on Wednesday June 19 in a bid to shore up support in preparation for the much anticipated general elections.

St Kitts & Nevis has been politically paralyzed due to the failure to debate a long-outstanding parliamentary motion of no confidence in the Douglas administration.

The formation of the People’s Labor Party increases the total number of parties expected to compete in the elections to 6.
