Reforms at the Heart of Rwanda’s Economic Transformation
He then said, “If we work together, if we integrate all our systems, the infrastructure, the way we do business, customers union, one market, across the board, everyone benefits. For us in Rwanda, given our history, given the challenges we have faced, we understand that integration is very important and therefore we are active in ensuring that we benefit each other and continue to move forward.”
Kagame also spoke on the recent abduction of about 200 schoolgirls in Nigeria and asserted that Africa needs to work together to put a stop to such incidents. He indicated, “Africa needs to come together to address these kinds of problems, of terrorism, which seems to be spreading from one country to another. One country alone cannot deal with this problem so we need to act together. We need to build capacities and pull the capacities in a corroborative effort to try and address these problems wherever they happen.”
He concluded, “It is not just fighting one incident like this, we need to go beyond. It’s something that should not happen anywhere and shouldn’t have happened here. It is important that all of us across Africa and beyond continue and build on that momentum to make sure that we deal with the broader problem.”
