JLP election to take place on November 19
The Jamaica Labor Party (JLP) general secretary, Aundre Franklyn, said measures are in place to prevent the leadership race from becoming bitter.
He said assurances have been given that everyone will cooperate to ensure that the party has a smooth transition.
In the meantime, he has clarified the date for the election of the JLP’s new leader following incorrect information released by the party’s chairman, Mike Henry.
Henry announced that nominations would close on October 21 and the election would take place on November 20.
However, Franklyn told a press conference this morning that Henry was off by a day.
Franklyn also disclosed that approximately 5,000 thousand delegates will elect the new leader at the National Arena on November 19.
