Wednesday, May 2, 2012

(Business Wire) – Haiti’s President, Michel Martelly, has appointed Paul Altidor as the new Haitian Ambassador to the United States.

Mr. Altidor formally assumed office today as he presented his Credence Letter to President Obama at a White House ceremony this afternoon. Ambassador Altidor most recently served at the Clinton Bush Haiti Fund as its Vice President of Programs and Investments where he helped realize many of the Fund’s programs, especially supporting Haitian small and medium-sized enterprises with access to financing, training and capacity building.

“Business diplomacy will now serve as an active instrument of Haiti’s development and hence a central feature of Haiti’s foreign policy,” Laurent Lamothe, Haiti’s Foreign Minister explained. “Mr. Altidor’s business contributions to our country, particularly in identifying investment opportunities for long-term reconstruction, have paved a clear path for Haiti’s development and prosperity.”

“As Ambassador, I seek to deepen the relationship between Haiti and the United States, two of the oldest republics in the world, as we promote the myriad business opportunities in Haiti,” said Ambassador Altidor.

Prior to the Clinton Bush Haiti Fund, Mr. Altidor worked at the International Finance Corporation (IFC), a member of the World Bank Group, advising governments on public-private partnerships. He has also worked in the private sector.
