Grenada Prime Minister Tillman Thomas will address the nation on Wednesday night amid heightened speculation that Grenadians would be going to the polls ahead of the October deadline.

Press Officer Richard Simon confirmed that the broadcast would be at 8.00 pm (local time) and that Prime Minister Thomas would address citizens on “national issues”.

Informed sources told reporters that members of the Conference of Churches of Grenada, who met with representatives of the political parties here on Tuesday, have requested of Prime Minister Thomas to avoid conducting any election campaign during the Lent period which begins on February 13 and ends on March 30.

The sources said that while no undertaken had been given during the meeting, the parties are expected to meet again soon. -(CMC)
