Anthony Carmona elected President of Trinidad & Tobago

Anthony Carmona was this afternoon elected the next President of the Republic of Trinidad & Tobago.

The declaration was made House Speaker Wade Mark at a meeting of the Electoral College, at the Parliament Chamber, International Waterfront, Port-of-Spain.

President-elect Carmona, the only nominee for the position, will assume the position March 18, when he is inaugurated at Knowsley Building, Queens Park Savannah, Port-of-Spain.
