U.S. Attorney General Loretta Lynch might be the U.S. President Barack Obama’s choice to replace Antonin Scalia on the U.S. Supreme Court.
According to Tom Goldstein, a leading legal analyst, Supreme Court practitioner and publisher of the highly respected SCOTUSblog, Lynch is a “very serious possibility.”
“The fact that Lynch was vetted so recently for Attorney General also makes it practical for Obama to nominate her in relatively short order.”
The Republican Party has indicated that they will attempt to block a nomination by Obama to the country’s top court.
Lynch would be the first African American woman ever nominated to the U.S. supreme court – and the Republican Party would have a political problem during an election year if they refused to even consider her nomination, Goldstein added.
