Trinidad & Tobago: Former PM Manning recovering from stroke

Former Trinidad prime minister Patrick Manning is on the road to recovery following a stroke at his home 12 days ago, but he still some ways to go.
Reports from his San Fernando East Constituency Office indicate that the former prime minister is unable to walk without help or speak clearly.
However, medical specialists said that despite these set backs the former prime minister is showing signs of improvement. Mr Manning is presently receiving treatment at the San Fernando General Hospital, and is reported to be in a stable condition with improvements in his leg movement and speech.
Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar is expected to visit when the all clear is given for visitors to go in. Until then the prime minister promised to keep in contact with Mr Manning’s family.
Meanwhile, supporters continue to gather at his Coffee Street, San Fernando office keeping prayer vigils for his speedy recovery as visits continue to be restricted to his immediate family.
