Congresswoman Donna Edwards receives endorsement from Robert L. Johnson for Maryland U.S. Senate seat
U.S. Congresswoman Donna Edwards who is leading in the polls in her quest to become the second Black woman member of the U. S. Senate has received another important endorsement.
Edwards is making a bid to replace Maryland Senator Barbara Mikulski, who is stepping down at the end of the 114th Congress in 2017.
According to latest reports, the endorsement is coming from Robert L. Johnson – the Founder & Chairman, The RLJ Companies and Founder of Black Entertainment Television (BET).
The text of the endorsement: “I am very pleased to endorse Congresswoman Donna Edwards in the race for the Maryland United States Senate. As a Maryland-based business leader, where my company The RLJ Companies is located, I know first-hand that Representative Edwards is a proven leader and a champion for the business community, particularly for small and minority-owned businesses.
In addition to her steadfast support to the business community, Representative Edwards also has a strong record on key issues of importance to the African American community like income inequality, access to capital, and job creation.
