The Premier of the Cayman Islands says he has done nothing wrong and will not be stepping down.

Premier McKeeva Bush made the brief statement Thursday, two days after he was arrested by the British territory’s police on suspicion of corruption.

Bush has been granted bail until early February as police investigate allegations that he misused his government credit card and abused his office by importing explosive devices without valid permits.

There have been growing calls for Bush to resign since his Tuesday arrest.

Bush also announced that he is traveling to Jamaica to receive an honorary doctorate and give a Thursday address at a Kingston university.

The University College of the Caribbean had previously said his appearance would have to be postponed.
