Legislators in the Cayman Islands will be meeting in a special session that might remove embattled premier McKeeva Bush from office.
Education Minister Rolston Anglin says that 11 ruling party and opposition legislators have called on the Speaker of the House to summon a meeting Tuesday to debate a no confidence motion against Premier McKeeva Bush.
The legislators driving the no-confidence debate include Deputy Premier Juliana O’Connor-Connolly, who is expected to take power if Bush is forced out.
Mr. Bush was arrested last week on suspicion of corruption and was questioned for two days. He received bail until February and has rejected calls to resign, insisting that the police investigation is politically motivated.
Police are looking into allegations that Bush misused his government credit card and abused his office by importing explosive devices without valid permits.
