Andrew Holness moving closer to leadership
Andrew Holness (pictured) is on track to becoming the Jamaica Labor Party (JLP) leader and next prime minister of Jamaica. This was further confirmed when he secured more endorsements.
The endorsements came from area councils Three and Four, which represent several constituencies. He has already been endorsed by area councils One and Two.
The nominations for the post of JLP party leader will close on Wednesday night.
Holness promised his supporters that Jamaica will achieve economic growth and stability, and that under his administration, there would be a concerted effort to improve and maintain the health-care system.
Last week, he and outgoing prime minister Bruce Golding, travelled to Washington to reassure international partners that the government’s policies would remain unchanged when a new leader is elected.
