Wilton Munnings appointed Dallas Black Chamber of Commerce President and CEO

The oldest and largest Black chamber of commerce in the United States, the Dallas Black Chamber of Commerce, has appointed Mr. Wilton Munnings (pictured), as its new President and Chief Operating Officer, effective December 1, 2012.
Wilton Munnings has 18 years of experience in the financial service industry working with banks and credit unions and as a consultant. Since 2008, Mr. Munnings has worked to develop his own consulting firm engaged in risk management and bank lending programs.
Dallas Black Chamber of Commerce Board Chair, Sonya Hoskins states, “Mr. Munnings will bring a wealth of business, marketing and financial skills and experience to the leadership of the Dallas Black Chamber of Commerce, which will provide a valuable asset to guide the Dallas Black Chamber to a higher level in the 21st Century. Mr. Munnings’ leadership and business acumen will provide the Dallas Black Chamber with greater capability to facilitate creation, growth and development of African-American owned and operated businesses in the greater Dallas area.”
Munnings’ banking experience encompassed providing financial services, business development and mentoring to small businesses. Mr. Munnings goal was to help small businesses grow and maximize financial profitability. Munnings’ credit union experience covers working with the nonprofits’ boards of directors as well as executive management responsibility.
Wilton Munnings has lived in the Dallas Metropolitan area for 20 years. He has served on several boards, associate boards, and appointed community service positions. Mr. Munnings received a Bachelor of Art in Accounting from Clark University in Atlanta, Georgia and Master in Business Administration from Cox School of Business, Southern Methodist University, Dallas, Texas.
About the Dallas Black Chamber of Commerce: the oldest and largest Black chamber of commerce in the United States, serves as an advocate for the creation, growth and general welfare of African American businesses in the Dallas community. The Chamber actively promotes the expansion of business opportunities on behalf of its membership through referrals, partnerships, seminars, technical assistance and marketing. The Chamber focuses on economic and business development, education, convention/tourism and special projects.
