Wesley J. Hall elected Chancellor of the University of Toronto

Wesley J. Hall, a prominent figure in business and a staunch advocate for equity, diversity, and inclusion, has been appointed as the next chancellor of the University of Toronto (U of T).

Chosen by the College of Electors at U of T, Hall will assume the position for a three-year tenure starting July 1, 2024, becoming the university’s 35th chancellor since its establishment in 1827.

Expressing his gratitude and sense of responsibility, Hall emphasized his commitment to upholding and furthering the institution’s values of diversity, equity, inclusion, and progress, which deeply resonate with his own principles. With a notable background that includes receiving several honorary doctorates and holding an ICD.D designation from the Institute of Corporate Directors, Hall brings a wealth of experience and perspective to his new role.

In his vision for the university, Hall envisions a place where every voice is heard, every viewpoint is respected, and every opportunity is accessible to all, irrespective of their background or journey.
