University of the West Indies, Mona Campus to Honor Malcolm X with Special Centennial Lecture

The Mona campus of The University of the West Indies will mark the 100th anniversary of the birth of iconic civil rights leader and Pan-African champion Malcolm X with a special commemorative lecture.
Titled “Celebrating the Legacy of Malcolm X: A Renowned Activist and Pan-African Champion,” the event will take place on Monday, May 19, at 6:00 p.m. local time in the Multi-Functional Room near the main library on campus.
Rev. Kobi Little, a prominent member of the influential Little family, will serve as the guest speaker for the evening. Opening remarks will be delivered by several distinguished guests, including Michael Barnett, senior lecturer in the Department of Sociology, Psychology, and Social Work, and Steven Golding, President of the Universal Negro Improvement Association and African Communities League (UNIA-ACL) in Jamaica.
This event offers a timely opportunity to reflect on the enduring impact of Malcolm X’s vision, activism, and commitment to justice, equality, and global African solidarity.
The university warmly invites members of the public to attend this significant tribute.
