Uganda named top investment destination in Africa

Uganda, recognized for its investment prowess, clinched the prestigious title of ‘Best Investment Destination in Africa’ in 2024, as announced by the Investment Authority. Evelyne Anite, the State Minister for Investment, proudly unveiled this achievement, highlighting the country’s success at the Annual Investment Meeting (AIM).
This isn’t Uganda’s first accolade in the realm of investment. In 2023, it secured the title of “Best Investment Destination in East Africa,” further solidifying its position as an attractive investment hub on the continent.
Impressively, Uganda has been a magnet for Foreign Direct Investment (FDI), notably drawing over US$1 billion from the UAE in just two years, as per data from the Ugandan embassy in the UAE. The Ministry of Finance, Planning, and Economic Development (MoFPED) reports a significant uptick in FDI inflows, soaring from US$1.36 billion in April 2022 to US$1.5 billion by April 2023.
Behind Uganda’s investment success lies a concerted effort to cultivate a conducive business environment. Through strategic initiatives, the country has endeavored to create favorable conditions to attract and retain foreign investment, marking its ascent as a prominent player in the global investment landscape.
