U.S. Open 2014: Serena Williams advances to quarter finals; Jo-Wilfried Tsonga falls to Andy Murray

Serena Williams reached her first Grand Slam quarterfinal of the year, defeating Kaia Kenepi 6-3, 6-3 Monday and keeping alive her hopes for a third straight U.S. Open title.
The top-seeded Williams lost in the fourth round of the Australian Open, the second round of the French Open and third round of Wimbledon. She said she felt the pressure of getting to the quarters of Flushing Meadows. She won her first 12 service points against Kenepi. Williams next plays 11th-seeded Flavia Pennetta.
Pennetta reached the U.S. Open quarterfinals with a 7-5, 6-2 victory over Casey Dellacqua, beginning a full Labor Day slate of matches featuring top-seeded Serena Williams and six of the top 10 men’s seeds. Pennetta, who reached the semifinals at the U.S. Open, won with the help of 35 unforced errors from the 29th-seeded Dellacqua.
In another key match, the ninth-seeded Jo-Wilfried Tsonga fell to the eighth-seeded Andy Murray 7-5 7-5 6-4.
