StatusPRO announces $20 million Series A round led by Google Ventures to continue to disrupt and revolutionize sports through XR

StatusPRO, Inc., has recently announced securing US$20 million in new funding, marking one of the largest Series A investments for a Virtual Reality (VR) gaming company. The funding was led by Google Ventures (GV), a prominent player in tech investments. This infusion of capital is expected to propel StatusPRO further in the VR gaming space, enhancing its position as a leading company.
The sports technology and gaming company, founded by former football players Troy Jones and Andrew “Hawk” Hawkins, utilizes real-time player data to create immersive extended reality experiences. After two years of establishing a foundation in the sports gaming industry, StatusPRO has successfully introduced a new genre, first-person sports.
The company aims to utilize the additional funding to expand development into new sports titles, improve existing modes and features, and further advance its cutting-edge technology.
The investment round boasts participation from various notable entities, including Dream Sports, a renowned sports-tech giant in India, Wise Ventures owned by Minnesota Vikings Owners Mark & Zygi Wilf, JDS Sports, and Alumni Ventures. Additionally, existing investors such as LeBron James, Drake, Maverick Carter, Main Street Advisors, Haslam Sports Group, and others have shown continued support.
StatusPRO made a significant impact in 2022 with the launch of NFL PRO ERA, the first-ever NFL and NFLPA-licensed VR simulation gaming franchise. This allowed players to experience the perspective of being on the field as the quarterback of their favorite NFL team through immersive first-person simulation.
