St. Vincent & the Grenadines opposition leader urges St Kitts & Nevis PM Douglas to debate no confidence motion

Under pressure – St. Kitts & Nevis Prime Minister Denzil Douglas
St. Vincent & the Grenadines Opposition Leader Arnhim Eustace is calling on St. Kitts & Nevis Prime Minister Dr. Denzil Douglas to parliament debate the motion of no confidence in his administration without delay.
“You know, there is a creeping thing which is happening in these island -nations now. You had it in Grenada, you have it in St. Kitts & Nevis now and we have it here too,” Eustace said at a protest meeting of his New Democratic Party (NDP) over the weekend.
Six opposition legislators in the twin-island federation filed the motion of no confidence in December last year. But it has not yet been heard with the Douglas administration insisting that it is keeping with its agenda for the parliament.
The opposition, which recently withdrew a motion filed in the High Court in a bid to get the no confidence motion debated, has now indicated that it will not be attending meetings of the parliament until the motion is debated.
Eustace, addressing the protest meeting which was held to show solidarity for NDP senator, Vynnette Frederick, who was arrested and slapped with nine charges on July 11, hours, said in Grenada the parliament did not meet for months and when it did meet the government called the elections. -(CMC)
