St. Vincent & the Grenadines commemorates its 45th anniversary of independence

Carla Barnett, Secretary-General of the Caribbean Community (CARICOM), has extended heartfelt congratulations to the Government and People of St. Vincent & the Grenadines on the 45th anniversary of their independence. This year’s theme, “45 Years of Togetherness, Prosperity and Perseverance,” highlights the nation’s commitment to unity and progress, celebrating the resilient spirit of its citizens and their journey of development.
“This milestone reflects the resilience, unity, and determination that have driven your country’s growth, contributing to significant achievements across the arts, sciences, education, sports, and entertainment.”
In an open letter to Prime Minister Ralph Gonsalves, Dr. Barnett acknowledged the Prime Minister’s “remarkable history of leadership within our Community, consistently promoting regional integration through cultural, diplomatic, agricultural, trade, and peace initiatives.”
“Prime Minister, as the Lead Head for Transportation in CARICOM’s Quasi-Cabinet, your dedication to improving connectivity within CARICOM strengthens our integration framework and will undoubtedly have lasting positive impacts. Your influential role as Pro Tempore President of the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC) has also underscored CARICOM’s importance on the global stage.”
CARICOM also commends St. Vincent & the Grenadines for its advocacy on the urgent issue of climate change affecting Small Island and Low-Lying Coastal Developing States and stands in solidarity with the islands of the Grenadines as they continue to recover from the effects of Hurricane Beryl.
