St. Lucia Prime Minister Kenny Anthony new CARICOM chair

St Lucia Prime Minister Dr Kenny Anthony has officially assumed the role of chair of the Caribbean Community (CARICOM).

He succeeds Suriname President Desire Bouterse, who just completed his six-month term.

Anthony will preside over his first meeting of Heads of Government of CARICOM Wednesday at the Sandals Grande in St Lucia.

Attendees will include Guyana President Donald Ramotar, Bahamian Prime Minister Perry Christie and Jamaican Prime Minister Portia Simpson-Miller, among others.

The talks conclude Friday, July 6.
