Sunday, February 15, 2015

Citizens in St. Kitts & Nevis go to the polls on February 16 to vote for a new government.

The twin-island nation’s parliament was disolved on January 16.

Incumbent prime minister Denzil Douglas and his ruling St. Kitts & Nevis Labor party (SKNLP) are pitted against the People’s Action Movement party (PAM) led by Shawn Richards and the Concerned Citizens’ Movement party.

Douglas, 62, is currently serving his fourth term as Prime Minister in addition to being a the member of Parliament for the St. Christopher 6 riding.

Opinion polls suggest that the race will be between the ruling party and the People’s Action Movement party, with Douglas’ party having the advantage of improving economic conditions under their watch.
