St Kitts & Nevis PM Cleared to Resume Duties After Stroke

St Kitts & Nevis Prime Minister Terrance Drew said Tuesday he has been medically cleared to return to full duties after suffering a stroke in August and completing rehabilitation.
Drew, a physician, was airlifted to Martinique on August 31 and flown to Miami on September 2 for treatment. He later disclosed the stroke was caused by a vertebral artery dissection.
In a national broadcast, Drew said doctors gave him an “excellent bill of health” and declared him fit for full duty. He thanked supporters for their prayers and messages, crediting them with helping carry him through his recovery.
Acting Prime Minister Geoffrey Hanley oversaw government operations during Drew’s absence. Drew praised the transition as smooth, calling it a testament to the country’s institutions.
He also announced plans to travel to Washington, DC, this week for a US-Caribbean dialogue on October 15, where he will discuss energy security, investment, national security and health care.
