Zuma under increasing pressure to step down
South African President Jacob Zuma is currently meeting with African National Congress (ANC) veterans, who have called on him to step down.
The group of 106 and veterans who include Ahmed Kathrada, Cheryl Carolus, Murphy Morobe, Wally Serote and Andrew Mlangeni recently called for Zuma’s resignation, and the ANC hold an early conference to elect new leadership are expected to present a document titled ‘For the sake of the future‘.
The veterans have expressed concern over the ANC’s loss of support at this year’s polls, and in the mounting scandals that have involved Zuma and his close associates.
Zuma survived a motion of no confidence in parliament last week.
