Serena Williams ready for Australian Open – downplays injury fears

WTA no.1, Serena Williams has played down concerns that she may miss the Australian Open due to injury.
Despite having withdrawn from the Hopman Cup last week, Williams has played down fears that the inflammation of her left knee was a cause for concern in the run up to the Australian Open. Speaking about the injury, which also kept Williams out of action for the last two months of 2015, she told reporters: “My body is feeling great now, obviously I had a hiccup but right now it is doing much better. I have had a few days of training so it’s looking good.”
Williams who goes into the tournament hoping to equal Steffi Graf’s record of 22 Grand Slam titles, said about her preparation: “We are all out there killing it. I just need to make sure I am totally relaxed and at ease. It all comes natural after that. I know what I need to do on and off the court to win big tournaments. That is what I like to do.”
