Rocket scientist Ken Washington becomes Ford Motors Head of Research & Engineering

Ken Washington has been appointed the new head of research and advanced engineering of Ford Motor Corporation.
Washington is one of the most prominent African Americans in aerospace, is a nuclear engineer who most recently was vice president of the Space Technology Advanced Research & Development Laboratories, or STAR Labs, at Lockheed Martin’s Space Systems Company.
Washington will oversee Ford’s technology strategy and help to accelerate innovation across the company.
He brings to the motor giant an impressive resume having spent a little over 28 years at Lockheed Martin, Enterprise Business Services and Sandia National Laboratories in nuclear engineering, information systems, super-computing, information privacy and Research & Development space technologies.
