REDJet Suspends all flights

Barbados-based low cost carrier, REDJet, has suspended all of its flights until further notice.
The airline, which started business last May, issued a statement shortly before 8:00pm EST last night declaring it had no choice but to suspend flights “from 11:59pm EST until further notice” because of financial problems and the need for government assistance.
Barbados Minister of Tourism Richard Sealy described REDJet as a good initiative and wished it a speedy resumption.
In its statement, the airline officially known as Airone Caribbean/Airone Ventures Limited owned by father and son Ian and Robbie Burns said: “We are willing and able to continue to provide affordable transport across the Caribbean and beyond, but we cannot. Unlike the heavily subsidized airlines that serve the region, REDjet does not receive any assistance.
