Jamaican born Wayne Purboo is the co-founder, president and CEO of Toronto-based QuickPlay Media Inc.

Wayne Purboo was two years old, his family moved to Toronto, Canada from St. Thomas, Jamaica.

QuickPlay Media Inc., is the leading provider of managed solutions for the distribution of premium video to IP-connected devices such as computers, cellular phones, tablets etc.

Purboo co-founded QuickPlay with Raja Khanna in 2004. Under his stewardship, the company has grown to become one of the leading video content distributors and producers of software for service providers that enables customers to watch premium video content on tablets, computers and cell phones globally.

In 2010, QuickPlay Media Inc., was named as one of the fastest growing companies in Canada having achieved an increase in revenues of 1,347 percent from 2005 to 2009 (approximately US$ 270 million).

Mr. Purboo is a serial entrepreneur, prior to founding QuickPlay, he was a prinicipal and Chief Technology Officer for Solect Technology Group. He and his partner sold the Soltech Techology Group to Amdocs Ltd in 1998 for US$1.2 billion, which was and is still the largest private technology (acquisition) deal in Canadian history.”

Purboo is an alumni of McMaster University where he earned his Bachelors degree in computer science.

Wayne Purboo was named as one of Canada’s Top 40 Under 40 by Caldwell Partners in 2006. He sits on boards of private technology companies. Volunteers for Pathways to Education, a program designed to keep kids in school, and Sheena’s Place, which helps people overcome eating disorders. He is also is on the Advisory Board of Virgin Unite, which is developing new approaches to social and environmental issues. He is also active on the boards of GlassBOX, Artscape, Cellwand, and the Toronto International Film Festival.
